In recognition of his contributions to understanding the interplay between superconductivity and magnetism in quantum materials, Zurab Gugushia, from the LMU at PSI received the ICSM 2026 International Career (Lifetime) Achievement Award in Superconductivity. Through his use of advanced experimental methods, most notably muon spin rotation and relaxation techniques, he has revealed critical insights into unconventional superconducting states and magnetic ordering.

The International Conference on Superconductivity and Magnetism (ICSM) is one of the most prominent international forums in the field, bringing together leading experts since its establishment in 2008. Over the years, it has evolved into a highly influential platform for presenting breakthrough results, exchanging ideas, and shaping research at the frontier of superconductivity, magnetism, and related quantum phenomena.
