Postdoctoral Researcher in Discovery of Quantum Materials, Department of Quantum Matter Physics, University of Geneva

The research group of Prof. Dr. Fabian von Rohr at the Department of Quantum Matter Physics offers a position as postdoctoral researcher in the field of Discovery of Quantum Materials.

The successful candidate will work on the discovery of new compounds, phases, and materials, the development of improved synthesis procedures in order to access complex compounds, and the understanding of the structure-property relationship of quantum materials. During this research, the successful candidate will mainly focus on the synthetic aspects of these materials, but also be involved in physical properties measurements and in working with national and international collaborators.

Applicants should hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in solid-state chemistry or in condensed matter physics with a background in materials synthesis. A strong background in single crystal growth is an asset. Good measurement (e.g. electrical transport, magnetization, specific heat) skills and experience in crystallography are an advantage. We encourage applications from self-motivated candidates, who are eager to further improve their skills. Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written) are required.

We offer the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art resources to perform forefront research on an internationally competitive level. The successful candidate will be embedded in a stimulating, creative, and interdisciplinary environment.

Application:  The position is available as of April 1st 2024, though the starting date can be discussed. Applications are accepted until the position is filled. We look forward to receiving your online application including (i) a cover letter stating your motivation for this position, and (ii) a comprehensive CV including publications and presentations, and (iii) three references.
