Postdoctoral position in growth of transition metal chalcogenide thin films and heterostructures, University of Fribourg, Group Bernhard
The Magnetism and Superconductivity group in the Department of Physics offers a Postdoctoral position on the growth and characterization of thin films and heterostructures from transition metal chalcogenides.
The project
Our group has a strong track-record in the thin film growth of transition metal oxides and the investigation of their magnetic and superconducting properties. Recently, we started a project that extends these activities towards the transition metal chalcogenides. The goal is to develop the thin film growth of these materials and to study their electronic and magnetic properties with magneto-transport, magneto-optics, as well as resonant x-ray absorption and scattering techniques.
The candidate
Candidates with a strong good background in solid state physics or material science and, in particular, on thin film growth (PLD, electron beam and/or thermal evaporation) of complex materials or advanced x-ray spectroscopy and scattering techniques are encouraged to apply for this position. We offer excellent working conditions in an international and collaborative team of researchers and a competitive salary in the range of 80´000 Swiss Francs per annum (depending on scientific age and qualification).
